Red House Farm is located in Glaisdale Dale just 400m from the village of Glaisdale in the North York Moors National Park near Whitby and consists of a group of buildings dating from the mid 1600s, with the main section of the house being built in 1748.Credit: Shortly after we converted the barn, we were pleased to be awarded the COUNTRY LAND & BUSINESS ASSOCIATION'S 1999 BUILDINGS AWARD for the conversion.  Our conversion was the first to receive this award in the North York Moors National Park.

We operate as a smallholding and have Longhorn cows and hens but no tractors or modern farm buildings. You can see photos of our Longhorns here.

Walking and sight-seeing are the most popular activities for the area. Several excellent walks start from the doorstep of our house, and we are only about 1/4 mile from Wainwright's Coast-to-Coast Walk, which goes across Glaisdale rigg and onto Glaisdale village road.

Dog-Friendly. Please note that we take 1 well-behaved dog of selected breeds in The Threshing Barn and The Old Sheaf Store self-catering cottages only. No dogs are allowed in The Hayloft cottage nor in the house B&B.

 

As the house and cottages are all Grade II listed, each has quite a number of stairs. On the driveway to the house and cottages are uneven cobbles and stone slabs, so not recommended for the infirm or those with limited mobility.

Swimming, steam room and gym can be booked ahead or when you arrive, but spa and beauty treatments must be booked well in advance of arrival to avoid disappointment.
